Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession      (In Unison)

O Lord, our God: You have called us to be Your disciples in a world that is lonely, strife-torn, and hungry, and we have turned aside from Your way to the ways of our own concerns and petty needs.  We have grown insensitive, not only to distant strife but also to the brokenness in our relationships as family and neighbors.  We have complained of the lack of attention from our friends, and we have failed to be a friend to others who are lonely.  We have dieted away our weight, and we have neglected to share our plenty with those who need it to survive.  By Your love, forgive our failures, and renew us to love kindness, to do justice, and to walk humbly with You.  Plant in us a vision of Your will, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Leader:      Hear this good news!  God does not desire the destruction of sinners but seeks our renewal as God’s people.

People:      God’s love is more powerful than our faithlessness; God’s grace, greater than our sins.

Leader:      Therefore, be thankful,

People:      For God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Leader:      Friends: Believe the good news of the gospel!

People:      In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
